The project will cover different types of conflicts and in different settings and consequentlyways of transforming conflicts by non-violent actions. The training course will fosterconstructive debate on recent conflicts in Europe and cooperation in the youth field. This isdone by promoting non-violent approaches leading to actions on peace-building. Moreover, young leaders will discuss the significant role of youth participation in grass-root peace-building initiatives. By providing an overall understanding of conflict theories and providingspace to analyses concrete conflicts and tensions, participants will increase their competencesfor solving conflict in a non-violent way. Therefore, youth workers participating in thetraining will gain skills in planning and intervening in these situations with transformationapproaches, by implementing peace building activities and non-violent actions. The projectidea was developed during a contact making event in Italy-youth workers have gathered, brainstormed and analyzed various common issues we face on a daily basis related toconflict, peace and human rights violations. Moreover, the project partners involved are fromcountries where so called frozen conflicts occur. The local and European media are full ofnews about violence in Europe and worldwide. Many acts of violence are based on prejudicesthat affect young people in our community, and the risk of radicalization among youth isincreasing with every year. We decided to create this project because various forms of conflictand violence are often closely interconnected. This has resulted in recent trendsdemonstrating young people possessing xenophobic and racist attitudes that can lead toaggression and violence against other ethnicities, people of other nationalities and/orminority group. Those conflicts have been going on for years, involving young people asparticipants, different groups trying to drag youth into different ideologies and beliefs, whichdoes nothing but to continue those conflicts. Thus youth work can pay a significant role inchanging the process b involving youth in peace building and conflict transformation.
